Approximately 24,000 international students  study in Boston each year. In fact, Boston is the third-leading host city in the United States.
Boston University
  • Boston University has one of the largest international student populations of any university in the U.S., with students hailing from upwards of 140 different countries.
  • In 2008 Boston University welcomed 444 freshmen from overseas, a 39% increase from the previous year and the largest number the school has ever seen. More so than from any other group were the number of freshmen arriving from South Korea, followed by India, then China.
University of Massachusetts at Amherst
  • In the fall of 2009, UMass Amherst expects to welcome 20% more international students into its classrooms than it did in 2008.
Northeastern University
  • In 2009, 17% more students from abroad are expected to enroll than did in 2008.
Babson College
  • In 2009, international students will comprise nearly 25% of Babson’s freshman class, up 67% from the previous year.
